What's on my bobbin #1

This is my second spinning project which I have been working on for some time. Blue Faced Leicester has been used as the base and blended with luxury fibres on hand carders. The end result will be a fine 3-ply yarn.

Alpaca and Blue Faced Leicester (BFL)
Alpaca is a fabulous fibre to spin with as it is exceedingly soft. I purchased a bag from a working Alpaca Farm and B&B, Fairshaw Rigg, in Northumberland. Well recommended.

Silk and BFL
This blue dyed silk fibre was purchased from the Threshing Barn at last year's British Wool Weekend in Harrogate. Again lovely to touch and gives a nice pop of colour and lustre against the BFL.

Bamboo and BFL

Bamboo fibre is surprising soft and it also has an amazing lustre to it. This was purchased from the Threshing Barn as well.

I've really enjoyed working with these luxury fibres. They are all super soft and a joy to handle. Can't wait to finish this project!

What is your favourite fibre to spin with?
