The Fleece & Fiber Sourcebook Review

If you ever wanted to know anything and everything about sheeps wool.

I can't recommend this book enough! Be warned though, it is a hefty book (a hardcover with 438 pages) so not a light read. I've had to bookmark pages to make it quicker to navigate.

It begins with general information about wool, then the rest is about individual breeds which are grouped together by family type. Each section gives background history of the breed then provides more specific information including Fleece Weight, Staple Length, Fiber Diameters, Lock Characteristics and Natural Colour. It also gives information on Dyeing, Fiber Preparation, Common Uses and what it is best know for. Each section also has photos comparing the raw and clean fibers and yarn samples.

An excellent reference for anyone working with wool and other fibres.
